Artificial Intelligence has made video production faster and more affordable, but premium advertising is about much more than reducing costs. Luxury and global brands invest heavily in advertising because every commercial represents their brand identity, craftsmanship, and credibility.
One reason AI-generated videos are often perceived as less premium is that viewers can sometimes notice subtle inconsistencies in facial expressions, eye movement, emotions, lighting, or physics. Even as AI improves, audiences often value authentic human performances and real-world cinematography, especially for campaigns that need to build trust.
Another important factor is transparency. Companies like Apple frequently publish behind-the-scenes (BTS) films showing directors, cinematographers, lighting setups, production crews, and how a campaign was created. These BTS videos are not simply saying, “This wasn’t made with AI.” Instead, they showcase the craftsmanship, creativity, and technical expertise involved in producing the commercial. By revealing the filmmaking process, Apple reinforces the idea that exceptional advertising comes from talented people working together with world-class production techniques.
This behind-the-scenes approach also strengthens brand perception. When audiences see the effort behind a campaign—camera rigs, lighting design, practical effects, actors, and creative direction—they associate the final advertisement with quality, authenticity, and attention to detail. That perception can be just as valuable as the commercial itself.
AI is not the enemy of premium filmmaking. In fact, it has become an excellent creative assistant for storyboarding, concept visualization, pre-visualization, VFX support, editing, and production planning. However, for flagship campaigns, most premium brands still combine AI with experienced filmmakers rather than replacing the filmmaking process entirely.
At Mayhigh Films, Ad Film Director LD Sharma and Creative Head Ira Audichya believe that the future of advertising is a collaboration between technology and human creativity. AI can speed up production and unlock new creative possibilities, but memorable brand films are still built through original ideas, authentic performances, cinematic storytelling, and emotional connections that audiences genuinely trust.
The most successful advertisements of the future will not be those created entirely by AI or entirely by traditional methods. They will be the campaigns that use technology intelligently while preserving the human creativity that builds premium brands.
